CHOREOGRAPHY re-imagines and exhausts several strands of movement taken from my previous work The Wild Heart. I felt that this movement needed a deeper and expansive development that wasn’t possible within the cinematic structure of the former work. By stripping away the cinematic and thematic content, I am working to distill the essence of a more pure choreographic language that swells into an abstract movement manifesto honoring a reverent belief in the possibilities of what choreography can do. I aim to slam new ideas into a form that is unadorned, surrounded by an expansive space and giant expression. Simultaneously, I want to see if the intimacy of the movement can resonate juxtaposed with a panoramic architecture. The Knockdown Center is a voluminous vaulted restored glass factory - a labyrinth arrangement of brick, steel and heavy timber with ceiling heights of over 40 feet and adjoining rooms ranging from intimate to epic scales.
